The Dutch family-run Hakvoort shipyard with a hundred-year history is located in the medieval town of Monnickendam, 15 km North of Amsterdam. The place got its name in honor of the monks who built a dam here in the XII century. In the middle of XIV Monnikendam received the status of the city, and by the beginning of XVII century became an important port of the Netherlands. Its cobblestone streets still remind of the glorious Maritime history of the past.
Here on the IJsselmeer in 1919, albert Kisn Hackworth bought the historic dockyard in 1780, where he began to build fishing boats. And with the advent of superyachts with steel hulls and aluminum superstructure Hackworth successfully moved into this market segment.
The shipyard is still fully managed by the Hackworth family and works directly with both its customers and well-known designers, creating superyachts on absolutely individual projects.
